Dallas, TX- Feb 19, 2012. North American syndicated Rock radio show InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 40th anniversary of Todd Rundgren
Something/Anything as part of its exclusive online only InTheStudio:MEDIUM RARE Series. Even before the February 1972 release of Rundgren’s third solo album Something/Anything, Todd was being hailed by some rock critics as a wunderkind, that rare combination of left-brain creative and right-brain analytical talents, able to write charming pop lyrics, blessed with an innate ability to play practically any musical instrument, while adept at understanding and utilizing the technical intricacies of the modern recording studio. Something/Anything would have been a monumental achievement under any circumstances, yet Rundgren admits, in this interview with InTheStudio host Redbeard, to neither reading nor writing music!
The InTheStudio radio program is syndicated on over 50 radio stations throughout North America. The 'InTheStudio.NET/ Todd Rundgren MEDIUM RARE’ show is an online ONLY exclusive available now on the homepage at “http://www.inthestudio.net”

GUILTY PLEASURES (VINYL GESTALT) 8-11pm
Wed., April 14 2004 w/ Jeff'weavil'Gauss
i was invited into the studio to join casey for his excellent show - guilty pleasures. casey fox, madison's king of vinyl, played a very interesting set to lead in to
liars,
which we featured as the new disc at nine.
how much i lied - elvis costello
liar - three dog night
*martin balsam from 1000 clowns*
little lies - fleetwood mac
*jim carrey from liar liar*
generals and majors - xtc
*ron liebman from slaughterhouse 5*
masters of war - bob dylan
*bill cosby from himself*
it's a sin to tell a lie - steve goodman
liar, liar - castaways
*=bits from movies that all pertained to liar(s) on one level or another.
not only did this theme fit in with todd's new release but it all seemed to
make big sense considering last night's presidential address.
around 8:45 i heard him mention (on my way to the studio) that "our todd rundgren correspondent is on his way to the station with tonight's new disc at nine" so i felt as if casey had loaded the bases with these tunes and my introduction and i just needed to step up to the plate (wearing my new rundgren junkies baseball jersey) and i'd knock at least one in.
well, this was a homer...a grand slam
we began with a small intro/interview in which we spoke of when the album was released, the covers - the us/uk cover had casey cracking up, the great press it's been getting, the tour which just started here in the midwest, and the cover again - as he was still laughing.
then we kicked into the opening of the disc with
truth/sweet/happyanniversary
we then dropped in with a short interlude that began with casey saying,
"men are stupid,
women are evil..."
and then i filled in the rest as we read the set (so far) backwards. the
mentioned lyrics allowed a great spot to tie into michele (the inference to
the household in the chorus) so i plugged her upcoming show in milwaukee
next week.
we spoke a bit more of the tour then as we prepared for the onslaught of the closing stretch:
living/godsaid/liar
then followed as we layed down the message heavy.
we spoke more of this amazing album and tour as we wrapped up the disc and the evening's theme to make room for over an hour of some of the finest vinyl tunes from the great band

the entire show seemed as thematic, congruent, and cohesive as todd's new masterpiece,
liars
unfortunately, they/we do not have sTReaming internet (yet)
some may recall wort-fm from the 3 hour todd special casey, george quinn, and i did in '99
what a great evening! i sure wish there were more stations like this around the country
