TODD RUNDGREN'S ENHANCED-CD THE INDIVIDUALIST
LAUNCHES DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT INTO MUSIC LABEL ARENA
 
Leading Interactive CD Publisher Bows
With First Licensing & Distribution Deal
 
 
New Hope, MN, October 5, 1995 - While the major record labels are still 
exploring the uncharted enhanced-CD waters, a new but already
seaworthy label specializing in interactive entertainment has now
entered the fray.  Digital Entertainment, publishers of a variety of 
interactive titles,  expands to full-fledged label status with the 
licensing and November 7th release of Todd Rundgren's latest enhanced-CD, 
The Individualist.
        "It is entirely appropriate that pioneering content such as this 

will be distributed and marketed by such a pioneering company as Digital 
Entertainment," said Rundgren.  "Together we look forward to establishing 
a broad-based market for enhanced CD products."
        According to Wim Stocks, vice president and general manager of 
Digital Entertainment, "We are very proud to be taking our first 
independent steps with an artist of Todd's stature.  We will continue to 
publish product by major artists like Kitaro and to distribute titles by 
the Cranberries, Sarah McLachlan, and others, but now we're increasing 
our role to include licensing and promotion."  
	Digital Entertainment plans a significant radio and retail promotion 
campaign to support the audio component of The Individualist. The title 
will be released simultaneously to music and software retailers, and will 
be available to retailers either in jewel boxes or larger, traditional 
software boxes.  Suggested list price for The Individualist is $16.98.

        The Individualist stands as one of Todd Rundgren's -- and indeed 
the music industry's -- most adventurous interactive efforts to date.  
Each of the album's 10 songs is linked to a separate visual journey, 
offering interactive lyrics, navigatable animated 3-D virtual 
environments, and in one case, a five-level "DOOM-like" adventure game.  
The user can even direct a music video using live footage from Rundgren's 
"No World Order" tour.
        The Individualist's groundbreaking multimedia component was 
developed by Rundgren himself in association with interactive music 
publisher Ion.  This new licensing deal was negotiated between
Eric Paulson, CEO of Navarre/Digital Entertainment, and Rundgren's 
longtime manager Eric Gardner, CEO of Panacea Entertainment.
        Multimedia pioneer and rock'n'roll legend Todd Rundgren boasts a 
career that spans almost three decades.   From his first psychedelic 
explorations in the '60s with his group The Nazz (of "Open My Eyes" 
fame,) to '70s pop icon ("Hello It's Me") and leader of '80s art-rock 
group Utopia, Rundgren has become a fixture in the rock firmament.  He is 
also a much sought-after studio producer, crafting hit albums for the 
likes of Meatloaf, XTC, Patti Smith and others.
        In 1993, Rundgren became the first musician to explore the 
interactive frontier with "No World Order" on CD-i, Macintosh and PC 
platforms, which garnered Video Magazine's award for Best
Interactive Disc of the Year.
        Fresh off of a successful summer tour of the United States 
performing material from The Individualist, Rundgren is poised to once 
again stretch the interactive envelope, and Digital Entertainment is 
ready to assist.
