Subject: Brush with Todd
I have had three "brushes" with Todd spanning over the last 20 years of being a fan. The most notable is when I drove Ringo and his All Starr Band in 1992 from the airport.
I had volunteered to be a driver at the festival, never expecting that the HEADLINERS would be using the normal, no frills festival van transportation. Therefore I was estatic when we got a call to drive to the airport and pick up the All Starr band. The two other drivers were excited at the opportunity of meeting Ringo -- I however knew this was my chance to meet Todd. As they exited the plane -- I was determined to have Todd ride in my van -- so I approached him -- literally grabbed his suitcase out of his hand and said
"Welcome to Arkansas, Mr Rundgren -- this way to your van!!"
The drive was spent chatting about Arkansas and me driving nervously to the festival -- I didn't want to appear star struck -- but I have to say it was quite a rush to say "Mr. Starr would you mind handing this notebook back to Mr. Rundgren for his autograph!!!"
The event was capped of by being able to sit backstage for the concert by request of their manager!!
