This is Utopia in the throes of full-blown Beatlemaia. The arrangement and recording style is right out of A Hard Day's Night. It starts off with a Ringo-esque tumbling-down-the-stairs drum intro, right into the vocals with no other instrumental intro. The shuffling drums with the splashy cymbals coupled with the walking bass-line remind me of Can't Buy Me Love, or I'll Cry Instead. Who sings this? I can't decide if it's Willie or Kasim or both. This is just a plain and simple fun song. What's wrong with that? I want to know, 'cause here I go again... Say Yeah (*1) Em7 Asus4 Em7 Asus4 Bm7 I didn't call this meeting and I never heard such beating around Around the bush and Em7 Asus4 Em7 Asus4 B7 You can't commit to something so You won't come up with nothing at all Unless you're pushed, but Gmaj7 A7sus4 A7 I wanna get this straightened out I'm getting tired of waiting (*2: Chorus) D D/A D/F# Gmaj7 When I say when will you lay your love down for me, A7sus4 Don't say what A7 D D/A D/F# Gmaj7 When I say why won't you put out something for me, A7sus4 A7 D Don't say what, say yeah We had a good thing going but We never did quite know what it was But it was good so Why don't we just start over and Maybe I can help you lower your guard I think we should, but You gotta stop resisting me I wanna get some kissing (chorus) (*3) Say what? Say yeah! Say what? Say yeah! Say what? Say yeah! Say what? Say yeah! Say what? Say yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! I don't believe in magic but You could avert a tragedy here I got to say that I think you've got the power and You know the final hour has come So don't delay 'cause I wanna get this straightened out I'm getting tired of waiting (chorus) Say what? This is hard to do on guitar, which is why I've play it this way. If you can find someone else to cover the bass, you can play it more like the record. When I say when... It's the ol' call 'n' response thang. Here's the riff that leads you back into the verse: E--|--------|--------|0- B--|--------|--------|3- G--|--------|--------|0- D--|2-------|--------|2- A--|--5-4-2-|--------|2- E--|--------|5-3-2-1-|0- Notes: This message should be displayed in a mono-spaced font such as Courier. Don't use a proportional spaced font or the the chord diagrams and tabs will appear out of alignment and won't make sense. The letter to the left of the slash in chord names like "A/D" refers to a triad, and the letter to the right refers to the bass note only. The number directly to the left of the chord diagram is the position on the guitar neck (or closest higher fret). "x" along the top means mute or deaden that string, "o" means let it ring open. A horiziontal line at the top of the diagram represents the nut. The horizontal dashes in the tablature diagram usually correspond to 8th notes unless otherwise indicated. The song remains in 4/4 time throughout. If you see any mistakes, or have any corrections or alternate ways of playing any of my tabs, I'd love to hear from you.
