A lovely ballad from the same mold that produced "Hello It's Me." Like that song, it's a parade of key changes, each key defined by a little IIm7 to Imaj7 progression (eg. Dm7 to Cmaj7.) Todd plays around with his soon-to-be signature chord sound by having Carson play droning pedal tones on the bass while Todd plays a variety of upper-structure chords on top (I haven't tried to mimic this effect in this arrangement, as it would have made it more difficult to play.) I got a lot of help figuring this out by listing to the excellent version by David Melbye on the "Still There's More" tribute collection. David has made the "Hello" connection even more explicit by arranging it as Todd might have, had he decided to re-do "Gonna Cry" instead of "Hello" on Something/Anything. ================================================================ Gonna Cry Today Composed by Todd Rundgren from the album "Nazz Nazz" Intro: Fmaj7 Em7 Dm7 Cmaj7 Dm7 Cmaj7 Bbmaj7 ... The letter to the left of the slash in chord names like "A/D" refers to a triad, and the letter to the right refers to the bass note only. The number directly to the left of the chord diagram is the position on the guitar neck (or closest higher fret). "x" along the top means mute or deaden that string, "o" means let it ring open. A solid line along the top of the diagram represents the guitar nut. If you see any mistakes, or have any corrections or alternate ways of playing any of my tabs, I'd love to hear from you.
